Well....doing a page everyday has clearly stopped. I just am too busy to do a page a day. Or simply I forget. So I am just trying to do two or three week. That way, I will not run out. Because I am a little worried that I will run out.
Well today's page is about a repetitve motion. I choose to draw stars all over the page. Partly because I really like stars and also because they are really easier. It was fun. But it took more than a day because I got tired. So yeah. And I got high off of sharpie because I decided to use a purple sharpie. So yeah. Here is the picture.
So I am going to tell you a little story now about me and Starbucks holiday cups. So...if you are not aware it is November. Which we all know is the month before December. Well I am upset with all the holiday stuff this year. It is out WAY TO EARLY. So with that I am made about Starbucks holiday cups. Because frankly it is not the "holidays" yet. I mean if they have turkey cups then I would be all for it. But they don't. I mean can we just let the turkey have his month? I mean I thought Santa was nice? Why is he stealing on the turkey's holiday? So yeah. Today I am going to Starbucks and I am going to ask for a non-holiday cup. I want to see what they say. I mean they are all for customer service right? So I will keep you posted. I just wish people cared about Thanksgiving. It is a awesome holiday and just because we don't have to but presents and decorate the whole house does not make it a bad holiday. Just saying. :)
Alright...getting off my soap box.
See you on Monday

Day 83: This is a Dare
"Write a list of things you would like to try in your lifetime."
Ride in a hot air balloon
Scuba Dive
Skydive (either inside or outside)
Visit all 50 states
Master's Degree
Work in a low income school
Polar Plunge
Visit another country (or two or three)
Olympics
Surf
Tomatoes (it would be my dream to try them without the risk of dying)
Meet the President
Vegas
Visit a strip club
This was really fun. I am assuming that I will continue to add to the list as the book continues. I really like bucket lists. I did present a top 11 program at IACURH on them of course! They rock. And everyone should have one.
What is on yours?
Start creating! I cannot wait to hear about all the amazing things you come up with!

Day 82: This is a Set of Directions
So....sorry I have not updated for a while. I was really busy getting ready for IACURH and well I hurt my back and never got around to it. So this week I will make sure to post everyday!
Today, I did page 44. It asked me to complete a set of directions. It was easy, which was nice because I am tired and in pain. But here is the picture:
Here were the directions:
1. Get a writing utensil
2. Choose a starting point
3. Draw a straight line in any direction; stop before you get to the edge of the page.
4. Draw a curvy line in the opposite direction.
5. Add a square. Color it in.
6. From one of the corners of the square draw a dotted line on a diagonal. About two inches long.
7. At the end of the dotted line draw a circle.
8. Inside the circle write the name of the last person you spoke to.
9. From the circle draw a line to one of the corners of the page.
10. Fold the corner down and color it in.
11. From that corner draw a very fat line to the middle of the page.
12. Draw the moon here.
13. Sign your name.
Well, I honestly don't like the page...oh well.
But I should share that I took my book to IACURH and shared my story with the everyone who attended my program. They LOVED it! Many of them signed the book and so now I have nearly covered the entire page with signatures. I am really good at promoting the book. Maybe I should get compensated for promoting the book???
See you tomorrow.

Day 75: This is a Group Activity
So this blog is for Friday. I forgot to do a page on Friday but then I forgot to blog about it.
For this challenge, I was asked to do a challenge with a group of friends. They were:
Kelsey Odom
Zach ( I do not know his last name)
Rachel Stoller-Lee
Emily Nass
Task 1: Balance This is Not a Book on some part of the body (not the head) for the longest period of time. We chose the shoulder. Here are the results.
Zach: 3.6 seconds
Kelsey: 1.6 seconds
Me: 3.8 seconds
Rachel: 4 seconds
Emily: 16 Seconds. WINNER
Task 2: See who can walk the farthest with This is Not a Book between their legs. The winner was Rachel, who walked across the entire 3rd floor and half the second floor. But here are some videos. WARNING: language may not be appropriate.

Oh and no page today. I kind of forgot and I am tired and don't feel good.

Day 74: This is an Annoyance
GRRRRRRROOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
My hands are really sticky thanks to today's page. I was instructed to make it "annoying". It suggesting making it sticky, writing an insult. So naturally I did both. I started by gluing the paper with a glue stick. Then I determined that the glue would dry and then would no longer be sticky. So the next logical thing that game to my mind was honey. Yes honey. NOT SMART. Put honey on it, and then well then the disaster began. I put too much on. So I used a paper towel to move it around. Then, I decided to move to use a wet paper towel to "decrease the stickyness" because it was out of control. Then I add more glue, I was trying to "seal" it. And then well...I frebreezed it. Cause it smelled funny.
Then I added the insult. Which was "You suck, and now you are sticky!" Not clever but it works.
Now I am sticky, my desk is sticky, and my book is sticky. To round up today's page, I would say STICKY!!!
See you tomorrow!

Day 73: This is an Accident
Usually accidents happen expectantly. Well this accident was kind of planned through the book. Today I made an "accident" in my copy of "This is Not a Book." I chose to cut out small pieces of paper and drop them onto the book and glue them EXACTLY (or really close) to where they land. It was hard to glue them exactly where they landed, so they are really close. Here is the pic.
I can't figure out how to adjust it. So here you go.
See ya later alligator!

Day 72: This is an Underground Organization
Today's challenge was fun and interesting. It said to do the following:
1. Go to www.THISISNOTABOOK.org
2. Enter this Code: JT25261
3. Receive your mission
I am not going to tell you exactly what the mission was. You are more than capable of figuring that out yourself. But I will post a picture.
Can you guess where this picture was taken? It was in a disclosed location. And the first person to tell me wins...something. I will give you a hint: this picture was taken in Greeley (before the snow).
Well, I am going to bed so that I can get up and teach at 7:30 in the snow. Good night world!

31 Letters in 31 Days CHALLENGE COMPLETE
Well I did it. I wrote 31 letters in 31 day. And man was it hard! I really enjoyed it though. I would recommend it to anyone. Just make sure you have lots of stamps and envelopes. When I was a freshman in college, my mom bought be 40 stamps and a box of 80 envelopes. I hardly used them over the last three years, but because of this challenge. I have had to buy more stamps and have used about half of my box of envelopes.
One thing that I wish, and am surprised to learn, is that in writing 31 letters I have not received a single back. No one has written one back. People have told me they were going to but my mailbox is empty. Which I know, that after everyone reads this, that my mail box will fill with letters right? Lets hope, I love getting mail.
It is going to be weird to start doing a page a day again. I have not done that in so long. But I am excited to continue on with the book. And by the way...can you believe how fast October went? Is it really November, because I am just not sure.
Well, here we go! More challenges to complete. One tiny problem...I do not remember what day we are on. I guess I gotta count.
See ya tomorrow!

Commitment Update
Hello World (or just the people who still read this),
I have not forgotten about writing on this blog, I just have been so busy writing letters. Which is going great, thanks for asking. I have really enjoyed writing letters to people, and I really hope that others really enjoy reading them from me. Writing a different letter to someone everyday is hard. But I only have 11 more letters to write.
Today, I wrote a letter to the author of the book, Keri Smith. I told her about the challenge that Liz and I are doing and what are status is. I told her how much I loved the book, and how much I could not wait to start Wreck This Journal. I am so happy that Liz and I have decided to do this, because it is a great way to be more spontaneous and have fun. Which is hard sometimes in this stressful world we all live in. I encourage you to find something that lets you be fun and care-free. Something that you do everyday that makes you relax. I feel very relaxed now (except that my neck hurts from sitting at my computer for like 3 hours). But I always look forward to completing my page for the day, or in this case, my letter. It is something to look forward to, and something to remember to do that is fun. You should all try it.
I will get off my soap box now, and tell you all to have a fabulous night tonight and a fantastic day tomorrow! Do something you would never think of doing tomorrow...step out of your comfort zone.
See you later. Hope you are enjoying the letters.

Commitment Update
8 letters down...23 more to go.
I have really been enjoying the experiences of writing letters to people, and I hope that I get some in return. Letters take a while to write, but I think that it is a nice relaxing break from the hectic life that I lead. Today's letter was awesome, it was to the one and only Ellen Degeneres. 8 people have received them, and I sort of select people randomly. so, don't worry, there are still 23 days left to write letters. So more letters to come. But I need to buy some more stamps.
Well more to come. More letters to write, and hey, maybe Ellen will send me a letter back!
See ya later!

Day 40: This is a Commitment
For the entire month of October, I will be doing 1 page.
Here it is:
"This is a Commitment
Do one thing on this list every day for one month.
Wear an article of clothing inside out
Read a book you don't think you will like
Sing on your way to work/school.
Give Something Away
Take a photo
Draw Something
Write a letter"
I chose to write a letter to a different person every day. Which will be fun and sort of challenging. So I guess I should probably stock up on stamps!!
If you want me to send you a letter, give me your address!!
Anna :)
P.S. I will not be posting everyday, but I will try and post a couple of times this month. :)

Day 39: This is a Declaration
Today...I carved a tree. Yes a tree. Made of paper. But it looks like a tree. So I made a declaration. Get excited.
1.2.3.4. I DECLARE A THUMB WAR 5.6.7.8. WE BETTER START NOW BEFORE IT'S TO LATE!
This was the first thing that came into my head. So I went for it.
See ya tomorrow! (yes I know that its Saturday, but its October 1st!)

I entered a room 45 times today. That is a lot!!
That is it. Not too exciting. The more exciting ones are coming. :)
In the words of Liz: LATER GATOR!!
Anna :)

Day 37: This is a Material
It is official, after 37 days, my book is starting to fall apart. Oh well, I guess that is the point. Today I made it worse.
Mission: To conduct experiments to find the properties of paper. Then, make a list of everything. What happens when you add stuff to it?
Result:
Hold my turtle from Tanzania.
How my book looks now. The binding is coming undone.
I am getting prepared for October, which brings the best page. So if you would like to be a part of it, send me your mailing address. That is all I am saying right now, but check back on October 1st for more. :)
See you tomorrow!

Result:
- Page is not water proof (oops)
- I want to burn part of the page, but I live on campus.
- Holds my turtle (see photo)
- Holds glue, paint, and stickers (every teacher's favorite things)
- FRINGE
- Glue with confetti
- And I crinkled the page, which caused a problem.

Day 36: This is a School
Well today I get to pretend to be a teacher, which is great because I am 2 semesters away from actually being a teacher. So for my "school page". I was to explain what lesson I would teach if I could and what it would look like. So I picked geography, because I love geography. Yes I know that I am going to be a special education teacher, but I have always wanted to teach geography. Come on...who does not like coloring maps?? Well I attached the picture below.
Sorry that it is going the wrong way. I can't seem to find a way to fix it.
Adios!
Anna :)

Day 35: This is a Mystery
Task: Figure out why there is no page 42. Write your responses in the book, and then go to www.thisisnotabook.org to submit your responses.
My guesses:
A dog ate it
42 is a bad number
There was a page 42 and then it was removed
Keri (the author) was 42 at the time and didn't want people to know her name
Keri forgot
Someone can't count
It is her favorite number
Keri liked the direction page so much that she didn't want it to compete with page 42
I posted them all on the website (link below). Other people have some pretty cleaver ideas. But I guess we will never know....

Day 34: This is a Scavenger Hunt
So...I know that I was supposed to post this on Friday. But Homecoming has gotten in the way. But here it is. I completed the scavenger hunt on Friday, I just have not had time to post.
I needed to find:
A seed pod (9/21)
A definition of a word you don't know (9/22)
A secret code (9/23)
A scientific theorem (9/23)
Something red (9/20)
Something that was alive (9/21)
A map (9/22)
A footnote (9/23)
Something that was lost (9/22)
A piece of thread (9/22)
A ticket stub (9/20)
Something with a circle on it (9/21)
A palindrome (9/21)
A piece of toilet paper (unused) (9/23)
Here are the pictures of the items. I forgot to add the something that was lost to the picture but it was a bag that I lost and found it in my closet.
Ticket stub thanks to Tana Wolfe
The rest of the things that I found. I enjoyed the hunt. But it was hard!!!
See you tomorrow! Start of week 6?
Anna :)
P.S. Thanks to Aubrey and Courtney for helping me with the puzzle.

Day 31: Scavenger Hunt Update
Holy Moly!! I have been so busy that I have not even had time to post updates!! I am working on the scavenger hunt. Which is proven to be difficult. But I have gotten nearly half. So listed below are the things I still need to find:
1. A definition of a word you don't know
2. A puzzle to complete
3. A scientific theorem
4. Something that was alive
5. A footnote
6. Something that was lost. (which I think I actually have)
7. A piece of toilet paper.
I am having a lot of problems with finding a scientific theorem. Ideas?
More to hunt down....
I hope I find them all.
Anna :)
P.S. I am back on track with days again.

Day 25: This is a Scavenger Hunt
This week I am doing something a little different. Instead of doing a page everyday, I am doing one page that lasts all week. This is because Homecoming is consuming my life currently and I do not have time to do a page everyday.
This weeks page is "This is a Scavenger Hunt". I have this week (until Friday at midnight) to find all of these things:
"A seed pod
The definition of a word you don't know
A puzzle to complete
A secret code
A scientific theorem
Something red
Something that was alive [a leaf counts]
A map
A footnote
Something that was lost
A piece of thread
A ticket stub
Something with a circle on it
A palindrome
A piece of toliet paper (unused)"
I have not found anything yet. But I will post later this week with an update.
Happy Homecoming!
Anna :)
I realized that I may have screwed up the days. Liz is on 27 and I am on 25. So I'm confused. Oh well.

Day 23: This is an Outlet
Today's page was much needed in my crazy hectic life right now. I got to write down all the things that are going on in my life. Like venting. I wrote in the pages of the book the things that were bothering me. It was therapeutic. It also instructed me to scribble if I felt mad and stressed. And well, since homecoming is taking over my life, I am the definition of stress. So I scribbled all over the page.
Well, that is it. Kind of short, no picture today.
Tomorrow is Friday!!
YAY!

Day 21: This is a Souvenir
Wow. Today has been long and tiring, not to mention stressful. But This is Not a Book has helped with dealing with my mounds of stress. But today's page was kind of odd, and rather depressing. It asked to make a list of all the things that you enjoyed about being on earth. It felt weird because it was like I was writing all the things I was going to do before I died, but unlike a bucket list, I already did them.
So this is what I said. Some were funny and some were serious. But I tried to make it fill the whole page.
Enjoy!!

Day: 20 This is a Currency
Today I created my own money system. Yes that is right, there is now Anna money in the world. However, it does not really work...
For this challenge, I was asked to do the following:
"Use this money to begin your own economy and barter system. Trade this page for another item of equal or greater value. Draw your own version of money."
It also instructed me to add a picture of myself to a This is Not a Book dollar bill.
For my task, I traded my "Anna dollar" for a copy of the RHA Agenda from Lauren Koppel. This is my first agenda as a RHA executive. Which is rather exciting. Lauren has my dollar. But I think I will barter for it back, you know for keepsake.
Well that is it for now!!
See you later Alligators!

Day 19: This is a Customizable Object
Today I got to decorate my This is Not a Book. The page for today was "This is a customizable object", it instructed me to decorate my book. I put stickers on the pages, created fringe on one page, created a envelope to carry things, and a new bookmark. I did not do too much yet, because I wanted to add to it as I go. I added one picture, but if you want to see all the customizations you should come find me to look at the book.
Not the greatest picture. But oh well.
See you Monday!

Day 18: This is a Friend
Well today, through this page, I made two new friends. They are not really, but they are really cool. These friends are from today's page, "This is a Friend". I was asked to cut out different eyes, noses, mouths, etc. and make a face out of it on This is not a Book and something else. Here are my new friends!
This is the first one, it is on the cover of the book.
This is on a yellow sticky note above my desk.
Well, my new friends and I are tired. So we are calling it a night! See you tomorrow!

Day 17: This is a Blank Space
So today's day has been extremely hectic. I nearly forgot that I had to do a page, until dinner when I nearly freaked out. The interesting thing about today's page is that this morning I randomly selected a page (like I do everyday), I landed on this page, but I was not thrilled and picked a new one. Hours later I went back and I lost the new one I saved, so I randomly selected a new one, which just happened to be this page, so to get to my point, this page was meant to be.
This page was easy. It had nothing on it, and asked you to do nothing. So I did nothing. Which is great because I am tired. End of story. Enjoy my picture.
So that is it. See ya tomorrow.

Day 16: This is a Conundrum
Hello again! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Mine was wonderful. Today's challenge was rather difficult. It was called "This is a Conundrum". It asked you to read a paragraph and figure out what was wrong with the paragraph or what was different. It took me FOREVER to figure it out. I read the paragraph over and over again to try and figure it out. But I finally figured it out, witht the help from Nina, which was kind of cheating, but I don't care because I was lost. If you would like to know what it is, I will post it below. But first, here is the paragraph:
"This is an unusual paragraph. It is a conundrum for you to sort out How quickly can you find out what is so uncommon about it? It looks so ordinary that you may think nothing is odd about it, until you actually match it against most paragraphs this long. If you put your mind to it and study it hard, you will find out. Nobody may assist you - do it without any coaching. Go to work and try your skill at figuring it out. Good luck!"
So you want to know do you?
Welll....here you go.............(LIZ DON'T LOOK)
There are no E's
See ya manana!

Day 12: This is a Plot to Rule the World
MUAHHHHAHHH! I rule the world now!!!! Well...not really...but today I got to pretend I did. For today's challenge I had to describe what I change if I ruled the world. It was rather fun. Here are a few of my changes:
1. Accessibility of rainbow sprinkles to all people
2. Make pigs a legal household pet
3. Education for all!
4. SHOES
5. Cheaper college education
6. Less hate and more LOVE!
7. More puppies
8. Diversity (and acceptance) (shout out to my diversity mentors!)
9. Vacations for all
10. Donuts (because I can!)
So look for those in the coming future. When I rule the world, it will be a grand time, filled with lollipops, pigs, and peace and happiness.
Have a fabulous three day weekend and HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Day 11: This is a Window
Well Howdy Folks!! How are we all doing today? Well I am doing good, I just finished making my radio show debut ("RAW" Radio on UNC Student Radio). Today's challenge involved a window. The directions are as follows:
"1. Cut out hole
2. Place in front of desired view
3. Sit."
Well the hardest part of this challenge was cutting out the window. I ripped the paper a few times, and had to tape it. But it worked. I decided to make the view I looked at my Betta fish, Francisco. He is an awesome blue fish that dances, and parades around his bowl. Many people say that he is the most active fish they have ever seen. He is also very excited to make is debut on the blog. He is currently watching me write this. So I am going to stop ranting now, so that you can get on with your day. So here is a pic.

My fish is quite the model. hehe. So...see that intricate cut-out job? I know I am pretty hot stuff.
Well that is it for today. Oh and by the way...curious about what I said yesterday??? Well it said "2014 WAZ HERE" as well as "Go Rockies" and "can anybody see this." Were your guesses right? Sorry no Stomper this time!
Bye for now...well until tomorrow!

Day 10: This is a Disapperance
Double digits!!! We have now arrived at day 10. Which consists of making something disappear. I would like to say that I am magical, but frankly, I am not. The directions for this page were simple, "1. draw or write something here. 2. Erase it somehow." I choose to draw with a pencil and attempt to erase it. It was a kind of fail. You would think that pencil marks erase right? Well....wrong. The harder you push your pencil into the paper, the harder it is for it to go away. There you go, you just learned something today. So I had to turn to white-out. Which smells bad, but it kind of covered it. So here is the picture:
Can you guess what it is?? I will give you one hint. It was one of my nicknames in it.
Adios for now!
Anna :)
P.S. After prof-reading this, I realized that I am kind of ADD today. My sentences change subjects a lot. Sorry, but I am just cool like that!

Day 9: This is a Portable Hole/Portal
Hello! Welp, here we are at day 9. And well I cannot count, as I said yesterday was 7 but really it was 8. Oh well. Today I learned the many benefical reasons to have a portal, well kind of. The first part of the challenge, required me to tape a black circle to a wall, to serve as the portal. I am not sure how that will work because it does not actually lead to anywhere. But I will keep you posted. Below is the picture.
It is just randomly on the wall. Nothing too exciting. The next part of the challenge was to pick a place that you would want to go to right now. Anywhere that you would want to relocate to. I originally picked the beach with my friends. But now that I am sitting at the desk for 4 hours, I think I would prefer to be in my bed sleeping (yes it is not even 10pm yet). But I drew a little picture which is below saying what I would do.
So that is pretty much it for today. Nothing too exciting. This challenge was short. But more to come tomorrow. I am really enjoying this, and people are too. People always want to read the book and sign the visitors page. So more to come.
Keep coming back for more adventures!

Day 8: This is an Escape Capsule
Challenge #2: This is an Escape Capsule. "1. Make list of things you would put into your capsule. 2. Decorate this page with photos, writings, and imagery that you would really enjoy (to accompany you in the capsule."
Today started the new challenges. No more carrying the book everywhere I go! So happy about that. This challenge was really fun, I got to use my creative outlet to make something fun. I took the capsule sort of like a time capsule. I put in different things that I would want to do or would want to keep if I left in a time capsule (and some things that I would want if I escaped). Some of the things I put were:

Challenge 1 Update
Well the adventure continues!!! This week, This is Not a Book has been to 8 classes, 7 RHA office hours, multiple trips to the dining hall, BINGO, a UNC Volleyball game, and so much more. It was been a lot of fun, and still very challenging. My favorite thing has been the reaction of my friends. They think that it is hilarious! They want to look at the book, they are signing the guest registry of course, and ask me like a million questions. I find it rather funny, however, I am getting sick of answering all the questions. I am looking forward to having a new challenge to complete.
I did do the unthinkable. I forgot the book twice this week. I showed up at the RHA staff meeting with no book in hand and nearly freaked out. But don't worry, I went back and got it. But now all my friends remind me to bring it. Great support system right?
Well here is a photo from BINGO. This is Not a Book had a fabulous time.
Also, I forgot to add that the UNC Volleyball team won when I brought This is Not a Book, so it is officially lucky.

Day 1: This is an Inconvenience
Day 1 has begun! Can't believe the adventure is unfolding already. This week I will be completing the challenge on page 1. It is called "This is an Inconvenience". For this challenge I must carry This is Not a Book EVERYWHERE I go for a total of one week.
It has already proven to be difficult. You don't realize how many places you go until you have to take a book with you everywhere. The dining hall, the gym, class, and random trips to the dumpster. It gets kind of annoying. Did I also mention that the book has to be in plain sight the entire time? So no stuffing it in a backpack, I have to be holding it.
Look for some more posts later in the week and some pictures of This is Not a Book living the life of an extremely busy college senior.
I forgot to link the This is Not a Book official website: http://www.thisisnotabook.org/
Also you should follow my partner in crime Liz on her blog at: http://thisislizsadventure.blogspot.com/
More to come!!!

And the journey begins...
It's the night before my last first day of school (as a student). Kind of scary to think about how fast the college years have gone. But I am pretty excited to challenge myself this year through This is Not a Book, by Keri Smith. For those of you who do not know what that is, it is a book of challenges to complete. Liz Fazekas and I are going to spend the entire year completing 106 challenges. Some take only a day or so, some take a week or even a month. But I am excited to see where it takes me. Below is an note to the reader from the book detailing the journey. Get ready to embark on the journey with me! It should be fun!!
"Note to the Reader/User
You are about to embark on a journey. You have come to this page because the object you now hold in your hands has piqued your curiosity. You may not know exactly what it is, but that is precisely the point. In order to complete it you will be asked to do a number of things. Many of these things require the use of your imagination. You are welcome to alter this journey in any way you choose. You may complete the tasks in any time frame. Try things at different speeds to see how they change, using whatever materials you have on hand. If anything happens during the course of This is Not a Book that you do not like, you may go back and alter it or remove it completely. You may add things you think it might need. It is your work. There are some things you need to remember:
1. Trust your imagination. It is the source of all true journeys.
2. Things are not always what they seem.
3. Anything can happen."
